Over the last Couple of days there had been a lot of rain, we all had our fingers crossed there would be good weather for the garden party. This had been arranged three weeks prior and everyone did their best to keep Bet in the dark, Bet had not mentioned to anyone it was her 80th.

The party was held at the home of a friend. Around 3pm John went to collect her. We all kept quiet as she arrived but a cheer went up as she entered the garden. At first the emotions overwhelmed her, after a short time she composed herself and went round to see everyone.

There were friends there from The Flower of Kent Sundaynighters, friends and neighbours plus old friends. There was a buffet waiting in the cleared garage, which included pudding. Her final act was to cut the birthday cake.

Bet gave a small speech thanking all who had made the day so special
Sadly
Three weeks after this
party Bet passed away
