Retirement of John Goodman as Prov.C.S. Dinner Dance 27 March 09
John Goodman has been our Prov C.S. for the past twelve years. Due to ill health John with his Wife Elsie decided to Retire. In his honour and to thank him for all the work he has done to make our District successful a Dance at the Popular Suite in Swanley.
John and Elsie walk in the room of gathered friends to an aplause. They were then seated with the whole family of Children their wives and Grandchildren, later Elsie was to remark this has been the first time the whole family had been all together for some time.
After a three course meal served Silver Service there were a number of speeches. There was a Loyal Toast. Bro John Wellington PPG.M read a prepared speach outlining Johns life, the Response was by Sis Dorothy Deacon V.G.M.The Guest of Honour was proposed by Bro Dennis O'Connor P.P.G.M. who had known John a number of years ending his speech, with he will be sorely missed. Bro John Goodman made the response with a speech of good humour explaining how he met Elsie and how they were introduced to Oddfellowship. The proposition for the visitors was made by Sis Rita Wetherilt Pro.G.M. and the response was by Bro Ron Munro P.G.M. The Toast Master was Bro Graham Elliot P.P.G.M.
