The weather forecast to be thunder-storms around seven but as we approached the sky was blue. It was a warm evening but as the skies darkened around nine, many put on jackets.
We gathered together in the car park at 19:30. George Puddifoot welcomed us and then proceeded to show us round the greenhouses of the National Fuchsia Collection of 6400 Fuchsias. So Many wonderful colours and shapes, all labelled on the pot, find the same one in the greenhouses for sale and buy it knowing what it will look like when it flowers. Fuchsias from this nursery are exported all over the world

Following the tour we were invited to cheese and wine which had been prepared by Nellie Puddifoot Helped by Sisters Alice, Elsie and Marge, Brothers Ron, John and Jim.
The raffle raise £100 for The Douglas Macmillan Cancer Care which is the Charity of our district
As we left, many of us bought Fuchsias and other plants for their gardens. The following Monday Nellie was due to go into hospital and all wished her well. As friends parted and the car park emptied, the weather still fine, all remarked it had been a very enjoyable evening.
